Problem Solving

This is where I will explain what problems I have faced during the Final Project and I will explain how I have overcome each problem.

Problem 1

The first problem that has occurred during this project is a change in deadline days, the first deadline that we had was the week of June 7th and our new deadline is the week of May 24th.

This has raised some issues with one of the people that I’m working with, he was supposed to be releasing a 3 track EP on the 4th of June, however with the new deadline we are going to have to push it forward slightly to roughly the week of May 17th. This means that I will have to research and find a new aggregator to release the music onto Spotify quicker than his original aggregator so that we will be on time for the deadline. There will be a livestream accompanying the release so I am also going to have to rearrange the date for this.

Another potential issue with the new deadline is that others who I am working with might not complete the work on time so I am going to make sure there is the correct support put in place for them to have this complete.

Although it is not a huge issue there is a lot of rearranging to be done for my project, I will be completing a new sheet for my personal deadlines.

Problem 2

I had been paired with a first year student and this meant he was able to book my DJ students and work with them. He had booked two of my DJ students, Harry and Brandon, to play on the outside stage for the MET Fest event that happens every year around the summer. Unfortunately there was a cancellation on the outside stage due to the weather conditions this day and that originally meant that the whole day was cancelled and my first year would have nothing for his FMP project, my DJ students were in contact with me all morning because they couldn’t get in contact with him and this meant that he didn’t know anything about what had changed. I stepped in to try and sort out a plan so that he was able to carry on with his project, there was a lot that I had to do and I only had an hour to prepare the day. As I was sorting things out for the day I found out that the DJ equipment wasn’t even booked out for the day so I had to book all the equipment and the area out. I also decided to book out a video camera so that my first year could use the recordings to have something to show for it. This is how it turned out:

Problem 3

There was one major problem that I faced and that was working with such a big group of people on my own. I was supposed to be working with around 10 DJ students which was probably the most difficult part of my project because people work at different rates as well as working in different ways, because of this people weren’t cooperating with me and they weren’t talking to me about what they wanted to achieve. I had to change my project a lot because I couldn’t do the things I wanted to with the way that people were acting.

To deal with this I decided to do the photoshoot for all of them and then mainly focus on two students who I thought would be the most cooperative out of the lot of them. I wish that I could have done more to help with the other students but unfortunately due to them not cooperating they haven’t received much help from me.

Problem 4

One of the last problems that I had to face was to do with the release stream where there were technical difficulties. There was no audio from the second deck as Brandon decided to try something new which was using an app to transmit the audio to twitch straight from the decks. Because he hadn't used this before he wasn’t 100% with how to use it and this caused the audio to only be from one of the decks. To deal with this we have decided that he is going to do a stream from his room the way that he normally does the streams. This is going to make it so that we definitely won’t have an audio issue next time. We are still learning so this isn’t the biggest problem in the world but we will be doing it differently in the future.

I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
