Project Plan

The project plan is to create a few tracks that will come from Jordon and release them while also organising a gig at bar 42 that has Jordon involved.

I had made 4 tasks for us to complete and within them there were a few smaller tasks that we needed to complete. The 4 major tasks were:

  • The initial project meeting that we were going to have with me, Oliva and Jordon to find out what we all wanted to come from this project.

  • Our gig that was going to happen at bar 42.

  • The recording sessions

  • The final music release

The initial meeting held on November 29th 2019

We sat down together to discuss what each of us wanted to achieve from doing this. We spent about 30 minutes just talking about how we wanted things to go and how we would go about planning and executing our plan. We finally decided that we would let Jordon compose and produce his music while Olivia and I would be doing the written side of the work, organising the gig and making a website for where the music would be published. We had discussed platforms that we had wanted to publish the tracks onto and agreed that we would look into setting up a bandcamp account, after looking at bandcamp we found out that if we wanted to set it up as a record label it would cost us about £15 per month to do this so we decided that it might be better to go with an artist account which was free.

The Gig held on December 11th 2019 at Bar 42 in Worthing

Olivia and I had discussed the idea of including a gig in our project which was to be discussed with Jordon in our initial meeting. He agreed to doing it but we needed more that just him to do the gig, luckily we had people that we could contact to do it with him, both inside and outside of college. In the end there was about 4 rappers who would do a segment in the show and there was a punk band along with a dnb dj. We needed the Dj to mix for the rappers and he wanted to do a segment for it so we incorporated everyone's ideas for the gig, giving them each an hour on stage as bar 42’s policy was to have all music finished by 11pm so as not to disturb their neighbours. The gig started at about 7pm which gave us 4 hours. Molton (the band) did their set first, then there was a break from the music for about 15 minutes do people could go outside to smoke and they could get refreshments at the bar. Then the rappers where on stage for about an hour to an hour and a half. There was another break after that and then Nuchin (the Dj) played his set with the rappers being able to MC to get the crowd going. Overall it was a successful night and we had great verbal feedback from most people that came to support the acts.

The recording sessions

We had left these to Jordon so that he could create the atmosphere that he wanted in the recording room. We would go in and check on him to see how he was progressing. He is very much a perfectionist so if anything was to go even slightly wrong or he didn’t like the way that something sounded he would delete the entire thing and start again so it was a very slow process to get the tracks that we needed from him. At one point we had to make a few backup plans so that if we didn’t get those tracks off of him we still had other pieces of music that we could release.

The music release

I have set up a bandcamp page for Jordon to be able to upload and make money from it, he will be uploading his tracks to this and this will also give him the ability to use it long after we finish our project. I will still work closely with him and help him whenever he needs me to, I would like to still help him produce his music and organise his gigs after this project has finished. I hope to involve him in my FMP as I like to work with him as he is a good performer and he gets the crowd involved. He also has a lot of emotions that he puts into his rapping and this is based on his life experiences and this makes him a powerful freestyler along with a powerful writer.
